SYNOPSIS:
Eva Matthews hates chaos. She worked hard as a high school teacher and
prided herself on the life she had made.
After a secret from her past sent her well-ordered existence spiraling
out of control, all she wanted was answers.
Her search led her to Highland Creek and into the arms of the elusive
Aaron Sawyer.
Aaron was born a fixer. Every injured person or animal from miles
around was treated to his personal attention, and he thrived on putting out
fires as the local lawyer at Highland Creek.
He never found a problem he couldn’t solve until Eva and although
misconceptions led to instant dislike, he couldn’t stop himself from trying to
heal her battered soul.
Although Eva is more than willing to
engage in a summer fling, she isn’t interested in seeking Aaron’s help or
complicating her life with anything long-term.
How can the man who lives to fix things stay away? Could Aaron and Eva turn a summer fling into
a serious relationship?

EXCERPT:
He leaned in and
kissed her sweetly, laying his lips on hers. It took about thirty seconds
before Eva decided that wasn’t enough and opened her lips to him while she
reached up and grabbed him on the side of the head. They never seemed to be
able to take it slow, their kisses running hot the minute their lips touched.
Aaron pulled her closer, trying to get her hips as close as he could despite
the tight spot in the car. She assisted, half straddling him as she struggled
to get all the way on his lap, pressing her thigh into his arousal. They
continued to kiss until she moved to get more comfortable, accidently kneeing
his dick in the process.
“Oh
shit,” he said, jerking his lips and pushing her to the side while he moved his
legs together, trying to protect his dick.
“Oh
my gosh!” She gasped, hands over her mouth, moving toward him to help but when
he turned away from her to cup his abused penis, she backed away. “I’m so
sorry; I don’t know how that happened.”
“It’s
… ok …” he struggled to say, his face a surprising shade of red as he tried to
breathe through the pain. She kneed the shit out of him, and the pain was
horrible. He thought he was dying and wished that something would mercifully
cut it off.
“Is
there something I can do?” She looked lost, normally not kneeing a guy that she
was trying to have sex with. The way he was acting, you would think she had
crushed it.
“No,
no,” he said, waving her off as he continued to take deep breaths in an attempt
to help the constant shooting pain.
He rested his head
on the window, cupping his penis and breathing deep for what seemed like hours
but was probably closer to minutes before he felt like he could talk again. He
looked at Eva to see her watching him wide-eyed, not knowing what to say.
“Ok,” he said, feeling
like he could breathe normally and move gingerly without feeling like he should
wish for death.
“How about we call
it a night because my jewels can’t take any more attention tonight?” She laughed at his question, causing him to
stare at her in wonder. “Are you seriously laughing at me? You did this!”
She
grabbed his arm. “I’m sorry,” she said, still laughing, “I can’t help it. You
look so sad, and I do feel bad. I have a feeling I am going to be very fond of
that part, and I would never do anything to hurt it.” She blinked adoringly at
him, and he laughed despite the pain because she looked so funny trying to make
sure he wasn’t mad at her.
“Just
know next time you hurt it, I will expect you to kiss it and make it better.”
She
leaned in with her lips pressed slightly to him. “I would kiss it anytime to
make it better.” She leaned closer and their lips connected in a whisper before
she turned and left to go inside. Aaron was forced to adjust himself yet again,
now uncomfortable for a completely different reason.
