http://www.wordsmithpublicity.com/2014/06/tour-promotional-event-not-yet-by-laura.html

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Scheduled to Release: July 29. 2014

Synopsis

Emma Harris is learning that life is just a series of lessons.

Lesson #1: Nothing goes the way you plan.

Lesson #2: You can’t trust men. Especially not the pretty ones.

Lesson #3: Turns out, appearances are almost always deceiving.

Emma thinks she has life all figured out, and what she knows isn’t good. For years, she’s put her big sister, who was born with Down syndrome, first. Now Emma’s ready to start her own life, but fate has other plans. To do the right thing for the sister she loves, Emma’s dreams will just have to wait.

She doesn’t plan on meeting Landon — a rich, flirtatious jock, who never has to wait for anything. Not for attention, not for money, and certainly not for girls. Meeting Emma marks the first time in his life that he’s had to fight for something. And Landon doesn't know how to lose.

Emma has no interest in wasting her summer with a superficial guy like Landon. But very soon she realizes she is wrong about him. The question is, can she trust him? Or will he let her down like every other guy in her life? But most importantly, can Emma trust herself enough to live the life she's always dreamed of?

Life has a way of sneaking in the most important lessons when you aren't looking. And once the heart gets involved, that's when the real learning begins.

Excerpt

He leaned over to my ear and paused. “I want you so fucking much.” This time I clenched my eyes at his words spoken hotly in my ear.
When I opened them, he was staring at me, searching for some clue as to how I was feeling. I had to give him something. I had to be honest and let him know that, while I had to follow the parameters we had set, I did miss him. I was suffering. I did care.
“What do you want from me? What do you want to hear? That I was falling in love with you this summer? I was. That it was the most incredible time of my life? It was. That these are the darkest days I have known? They are. But these little moments, seeing you, laughing with you, knowing you are here with me—they get me through. Land, sometimes all I can do is think about what could happen after May thirty first.”

Character profiles for Emma and Landon
Emma
Emma is a short, petite girl with long blond hair and bright green eyes. Emma graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in secondary education, and a concentration in US history. Her aspiration is to be a college level history professor one day. She has worked as a life guard and swim instructor every summer since she was fifteen years old. She is guarded, trying hard to not smile or laugh in public, and likes to keep her feelings to herself. She doesn’t trust men and also admits to not being very patient or spontaneous. Her college roommate even gave her the nick name of Bitter & Boring because of her general lack of optimism and positivity. On the other hand, Emma is endlessly devoted to her sister, Evie, and her mother. She loves to read romance novels, hoping to one day find a man like the one in the pages of her books. She loves to cook for her family, and her specialty is enchiladas.
Landon
Landon is a tall, muscular guy with short, spiky brown hair and brown eyes. Landon plays football as a wide receiver and hopes to play for the NFL in the future. Landon doesn’t want to appear interested in academics, but actually is really intelligent. He has always enjoyed going to classes because it is a prime way to meet chicks. Landon is a gregarious, laid back, flirt. He has a tight group of friends who he drinks beer with and hangs out with at the lake. Landon is not close to his own parents at all, having spent his childhood isolated from his mother and father. Unless it involves football. The only area of Landon’s life his parents are interested is football. Devoted to working out, Landon spends a large part of each day in the gym. His prized possession is his large, black Ford F-150 Raptor truck. Landon works each summer as a lifeguard to pay for its gas and insurance, but nothing else.

Describe your favorite scene to write and why:
My very favorite scene to write is the plot twist, but since I don’t want to give that away to readers, I will describe my second favorite scene to write. This is a scene from Landon’s POV and he is saying goodbye to his friend Trevor at the end of the summer. Trevor has a form of autism that leaves him unable to speak. Writing this scene touched me so much that I cried as I typed. The growth that Landon undergoes after just a few months knowing Emma and Trevor is astounding. This big, hunky, tough, jock really believes he has a friendship with a silent twelve year old boy. He makes plans to stay in touch with Trevor and watches the emotions on Trevor’s face as Trevor processes this. You see, Trevor knows that he is different than other people around him. What we, as the reader, don’t know is whether Trevor knows he is worthy of the same respect and love as everyone else. In this scene, we see Trevor understanding that Landon finds him worthy, and in turn, Landon’s knowledge of the power of one person rocks him to his core. It was a pleasure, in every way, to write this scene.
