Exclusive Excerpt of Twenty-One (21): A Dark Romance Stand Alone!

Check out this exclusive excerpt of Twenty-One (21) by Clarissa Wild!

My vocal cords are hoarse from the amount of screaming that I’ve done today.
For hours, I watch Angel getting tortured.
At first, I tried to look away, but the man forced me to look by turning my body toward Angel. Seeing him tied up and at the mercy of some monster makes my insides churn.
I’m dying. Not physically, but mentally … dying at the sight of Angel losing his will to live.
With every drop of his blood, more of his energy spills out along with his reason, his sole motivator to fight.
It was me.
All along, it was me.
He wanted me to live, and in his effort to save me, he sacrificed his own life.
I wish I could turn back time and tell him not to. That I could stop him from even coming into the house and attempting to rescue me, just so I could spare him this pain.
I don’t want to see him hurt. I don’t want to see him bleed to death.
I love him.
It’s not hard to admit when I witness the man carve a hole into his body right on top of his heart … the heart that belongs to me.
I am his and he is mine.
And now we’re set to die.

Killer - Unedited Excerpt & Teaser Reveal - Clarissa Wild

Killer
Prequel to Stalker

UNEDITED EXCERPT - Subject to change
COPYRIGHT © CLARISSA WILD. All Rights reserved.

Don’t mess with a scorned wife. She’ll return the inflicted pain times thousand.
On the outside I seem calm, charming, even, but on the inside I’m boiling, ready for revenge. In my pretty dress and high heels, adorning the arm of a rich man who brings whores to his home, I join the party of equally slimy people. All for the sake of reputation. That’s all that matters in a world where money is power.
But I won’t sit by and let this man waltz all over my feelings.
If he doesn’t care, I will make him care.
When the small talk is over, I excuse myself and go for a walk to the bar. I need a drink before I figure out how I’m going to get what I want. The kind of guy that’s a stranger to everyone, elusive, but filled with unknown desires… a guy who’s dangerous. Slick, combed black hair with the sides trimmed short, black gauges in his ears, a barbell in his left eyebrow and right underneath his lip, and tattoos running from his hands all the way up to his body. Trouble and lust, a delicious and deadly combination. Just the kind that I should avoid like the plague, but need like my life depends on it. The kind that makes even the coldest of hearts catch fire.
The kind that’s standing next to me right now.
I can’t believe this man is here, out of all places to be. It’s like a dream come true right now. A deviously bad, but oh so good dream.
He’s playing with his wallet, and a name is engraved into the leather: Phoenix Sullivan. Well, isn’t that nice.
He tucks it back into his pocket in no time. With a quick glance at the mirror hanging from the wall I check how I look, if my fake blonde curls still look good and if my red lipstick isn’t smudged. Then I turn my attention toward the handsome man standing just a few inches away.
As I step closer, his eyes zoom in on me like a hawk zooming in on prey. That focus alone gives me fever.
“Hey stranger,” I say, chuckling a bit.
“Hello.” He picks up a glass of champagne from the table.
“So, what brought you to this party?” I ask, putting up my flirty voice.
“I’m here to fulfill a job for a client.” He takes a sip from his drink.
“Oh, really? And what kind of a job might that be?”
He looks me straight in the eyes, his face unmoving, chilling me to the bone. “Confidential.”
“Oh … exciting,” I joke, touching his arm.
Just that one touch is enough to tell he’s buffed. His muscles bulge through his black vest, and I can’t imagine what else is hiding underneath that slick outfit.
“Not really,” he says. “But it must be done.” He takes another sip.
“Hmm … such dedication. I like it.”
“Is there anything you required, Miss?” he suddenly asks, flashing me a quick smile that sets my body on fire.
“Just your time,” I answer, smiling cheekily. “And maybe more. Why? Are you afraid I’ll steal the attention away from your job?”
“No.” He checks his watch. “I still have plenty of time left.”
I step a little closer and lean forward. “Then why not spend some time with me?”
His brows furrow and the left side of his lip curls up for a second. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but are you hitting on me?”
“Is that a crime?” I murmur, licking my lips.
His eyes are half-mast now. “That depends on what you consider a crime. You have a husband, don’t you?”
“Yes, so?” I raise an eyebrow.
He cocks his head, a smile slowly building on his face. “What did you have in mind?”
I lean in and whisper into his ear, “You. Me. That room in the back of that obscure hallway.”
When I arch my back and look out into the room, I can clearly spot Phillip watching me. I don’t give a damn what he thinks. I’m going for it. I actually want him to see what I’m about to do.
Phoenix turns to me. His eyes are narrowed, and his tongue darts out to lick his bottom lip. Then he brings the glass to his mouth and chugs down all the remaining champagne.
No words come from his mouth. Instead, he puts down the glass and checks the room before grabbing my hand and dragging me down the hallway to that one room I mentioned. With one last glance to see if anyone’s following us, he opens the door, pulls us both inside, and slams it shut, closing the lock.
“You seduced the wrong man, lady,” he says.
When he steps closer I take a step back, taunting him to come and get me. Only one step and I’m out of space to flee. This is just a small place they use to store tables and chairs for parties. I picked it exactly because it’s obscure and can be locked from the inside. This isn’t the first time I’ve been to a party at this venue. Nor is this my first rodeo.
“Why’s that?” I ask.
“You know exactly why. It’s the reason you picked me as your target in the first place. Women like you are all the same.” He pushes aside a table to come near me.
“Oh? So you have experience with this? Tell me more,” I retort.
“Plenty, but there’s always room to add one more,” he growls.
When he’s in front of me, he places his hands on the table behind me and corners me. “Are you afraid?”
He leans forward, his face inches away from mine as if he’s gauging how I’ll react.
I shake my head.
“You should be,” he whispers.
“Yes,” I whimper when his lips come so close I can feel his hot breath on my skin.
“My jobs are the kind that get people killed. You come looking for love from the devil himself,” he whispers, chuckling. “Why?”
His lips are inches away from mine, and I arch to meet his mouth, but he won’t let me kiss him. “I need it,” I say.
“Are you that desperate?” he asks.
I make a face. “Are you trying to persuade me not to do this or something?”
“I’m trying to save you your marriage,” he says, frowning. “And your safety.”
“I don’t care,” I say, closing my eyes.
“You just want me to take you,” he says. “Like a needy housewife.”
“Yes,” I say, trying not to sound pathetic. I just threw all of my morals out of the window. Do I care? Not even a little bit. Anything for the sake of vengeance.
“All right. I’ll fuck you, Missy. I’ll fuck you so hard you won’t be able to walk straight.”
“Fuck yes …” I mutter.
He smashes his lips onto mine before I can say anything else.
His lips are ruthless, overtaking my mouth like he wants to devour me whole. He isn’t gentle or sweet. He just takes what he wants, kissing me full on the lips with raw excitement. His tongue swipes over my mouth, probing so I open my mouth and let him in. I’m blown away by his neediness, his demanding kisses as he swoops me off the floor and places me on the table. I moan into his mouth as he grabs my arms and forces his mouth onto mine. I can hardly breathe.
He groans. “You wanted this, so now I’ll take what I want the way I want it.”

Excerpt

She clenches her teeth. “You can’t keep me here …”
“Watch me.” I lean against the wall, picking up a lighter and a pack of cigarettes. I’ve been dying for a smoke ever since I found her in that room.
“And then what? Is this supposed to scare me?” she says, her hand fisted like she’s trying to resist, even though there is no way out of this. I smile and put down the lighter.
“If you think I am doing all this just to scare you, you’re mistaken.”
“Then what is the reason, huh? Why are you keeping me prisoner?” She fights the tears in her eyes. I can’t help feel a little overcome with the urge to grab her and kiss her to take away all the hurt. However, I can’t.
The past cannot be erased. What we are is set in stone and nothing can chafe away the rugged surface of our souls.
I’d be a liar if I said it doesn’t pain me to see her hurt, but I like pain. I live for it. I was reborn in it. I don’t fear it. On the contrary, I survive on it. Pain is a means to an end and her pain is my end. If she stops feeling pain, then so do I, and that would mean the end. It’s too soon. I need her pain to feel alive. And so, I will continue to make her answer for her sins.
“A man must do what a man must do,” I say.
“A man? How can you call yourself a man? You’re a monster.” The look in her eyes, so in awe of my wickedness, is exhilarating. I smile.
“Thank you.” Her jaw drops, a brow rises, and she snarls. It’s amusing to see the mixed emotions scatter on her face.
“Are you insane? Why are you thanking me?”
“Because I’d rather be a monster than a man in your eyes. Being a monster beats being a wretched human being. You’ve freed me of the burden of having to act sane. So yes, you could say that I am insane.”
She just stares at me, her mouth open, but in complete silence, like she’s at a loss for words.
“Believe me when I say you are better off with me than out there,” I say.
“You’re mad! You wanted to kill me, and now you say I’ll be safe with you?” she scoffs.
“I never said you’ll be safe with me. I can get quite dangerous …” A smile quirks up my face. She shivers.
Clutching her body, she stampedes toward me. “Let me out.”
I grab both her arms, squeezing tight as I hold her back and look down at her. “You don’t want to do that.
“I want anything but staying here with you.” She tries to jerk free, but I keep her close, forcing her to listen. She cannot leave me, because I won’t allow it, but I’ll give her a good reason as well.
“Do you think I am the worst thing that could overcome you?” I lean forward and whisper into her ear. “There is more evil out there than you think.”
Her breath comes in short gasps, her tits pushing up against me as her chest rises. Courage is making place for fear again, I can feel it on her skin. It’s riveting. She fights me, her arms locking with mine as she attempts to free herself from my grasp, but I twist her in my arms and keep her hands behind her back. Her ass is bumping against my cock, straining it to the limit. God, I love it when she struggles. I never stopped loving it
“Do you think I’m the only one who came for you, huh?” I whisper in her ear. “That I’m the only one who wants you dead?”
She shakes her head, and I can feel her heart thrumming through her chest.
“Did you see those men that were following us? Can you guess what they wanted?”
“Me?” I smirk.
“Great deduction. Now, there is a difference between them and me; can you tell me what it is?”
It’s quiet for a few seconds. I guess she really hasn’t figured it out yet.
“They want your head. I want your body.”
She swallows, and it turns me on so much I want to rip off her clothes right now and do her against the door. But I don’t. Taking her would be so easy, it would take all the fun out of it. I want her to offer herself to me willingly. I want to see the regret in her eyes afterwards when she realizes she gave her body to the devil
“But …. I don’t understand. I thought you wanted me dead?”
“I did. Now I want more.”
She gasps. “Why? What changed?”
“I did.”

Mr. X - Unedited Excerpt & Teaser Reveal - Clarissa Wild

Mr. X

UNEDITED EXCERPT

“Get the fuck out!” I say, stumbling off the bed, pointing at the door. With one quick jerk I pull my panties back on, because I don’t want that fucking bastard looking at me. The gun is pointed at him, but my hands are shaking. I’m weak. I hate it.
Get over it. This fucking piece of shit deserves to die.
The moment he sees the gun his eyes widen and his movement stops.
“Get out!” I scream, flicking the gun between him and the door.
He scrambles up from the bed and pulls up his pants, making me painfully aware of the fact that he touched me. That my clothes are ripped, and that he was about to stick his junk into me.
Fuck, this is fucked up.
“I’m not saying it again; get out or I’ll fucking kill you right now!” I yell.
“Okay, okay, I’m going,” he says, walking around the bed. I follow his every step, vigilant, because I know pigs like him can’t be trusted. He could still change his mind and try to force himself on me again. I’ve seen it before with another girl at the club. One time this girl was flirting with a customer and I knew she was taking him over the edge with her lap dance. The edge means they aren’t able to walk away anymore. The men want more, and they won’t stop until they get it. Not all of us are willing to give it, but she was. She wasn’t willing to give up her pussy, though. Just like me. We give them pleasure, but the pussy is off limits. Too bad for her she didn’t carry a gun around, unlike me. It was the last day I ever saw her.
My anger gets the better of me, because Billy’s face while he tried to push inside me is still imprinted on my retina. So I bend over and take off my high heels, throwing them at the back of his head. “Hurry up, you piece of shit!”
He turns around and rubs his head. “What the fuck? I’m leaving, aren’t I?”
“I should kill you for what you did!”
As Billy twists the key in the lock, a knock is audible, and he freezes. I keep the gun pointed at his head, air leaving my lungs in rapid breaths as Billy backs away from the door. The door creaks. I’ve never heard it creak before.
Suddenly, the door bursts open, a shiny, black shoe smashing the lock. I stiffen, chills running down my spine. The leg retreats. A gun appears out of nowhere. A black, velvety gloved hand holding it. Fingers moving to the trigger.
Bang.
It’s not loud, like in the movies. It’s a thud, like someone just punched a pillow. The shot is soft, but unmistakably a gunshot.
At first there is nothing. Seconds seem like minutes as I stand here trembling with a gun in my hand, watching everything unfold. Fingers shake and breaths falter. Blood pours from his head. Billy falls to the ground.
My jaw drops because I can’t believe my eyes. Billy is dead, but it wasn’t me who killed him.
The gun fires again and again, two shots, one right between the eyes and one into the heart. Each one pulling me further away from this world. It all feels like a dream, but I know it’s not. I just wish it was so I could force myself to wake from this nightmare.
I want to scream, but I can’t. Air is trapped in my throat and it can’t escape. I don’t even know if I should. I’m frozen in place as the mysterious killer steps into my room and reveals himself to me. A bald stranger wearing a fitted black suit, a white collar contrasting the colorless ensemble. Lines of ink stick out from underneath, tattooed into his skin on both sides of his throat. However, the most striking of all is the x-shaped scar that marks his right eye. A wound seared into his skin ages ago, leaving ruin and havoc on his face. His eye has been replaced with a metallic fake; an eerie warning to the horrible events that he’s involved in. Events that I might get involved in too now.
Who is this man that stepped into my room?
Why is he here?
Can I trust him?
His face turns from Billy to me. Eyes black as night stare back at me, unsettling me to my core. At first they widen, but then they narrow, as if he’s surprised. I shiver, trying to keep the gun steady, but I fail in my attempt to keep it together. The look in his eyes reminds me of the stories my nanny used to read to me, stories about the devil.
His steps are fast and big as he comes toward me, indifferent about the gun in my hand.
“Don’t come closer! I’ll shoot,” I warn, but his hand is already locked firmly around my wrist. He jerks it to the side, forcing me to drop the gun. I yelp as his hand moves from my wrist to my neck, chocking me. I wrap my fingers around his, desperately trying to claw my way out, but it’s not use. He’s twice as strong as me, and his will seems unbendable.
Terror fills me as the gun in his hand rises to eye-level. The cold metal feels like a burn against my skin. He looks me straight in the eye, his coal eyes filled with chilling determination.
